Nigeria: Offshore West Africa Advisory Board Chair discusses Conference content

Francis Alabo Ogaree has today spoken of his delight at being named the new Offshore West Africa Advisory Board Chairman, for the Offshore West Africa 2012 conference, which will see the event return to Abuja, Nigeria on 24 – 26 January 2012. With abstracts received and discussed between himself and the Advisory Board, Engr. Ogaree, General Manager, International Venture Opportunities, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, looks forward to the 16th edition of Offshore West Africa, stating; “The Offshore West Africa conference is a unique annual forum for the oil and gas industry and the most significant offshore West Africa deepwater technology event worldwide, and I am delighted to be involved in shaping the conference content in my role as Advisory Board Chairman.” Talking further on the return of Offshore West Africa to Nigeria, Engr. Ogaree said;

“Taking place in Abuja, the conference will present an opportunity to deliberate on the issue of local content which will be addressed from the perspective of regional co-operation and collaboration. Not only will there be specific sessions dedicated to local content, but the whole theme of the conference itself – Deepwater Technologies for West Africa – will highlight issues, advancements and technologies from a local perspective.”

As with all previous Offshore West Africa events, the Conference will run simultaneously with the Exhibition, allowing delegates and visitors the opportunity to meet both high profile operators and local manufacturers and suppliers, face to face. Engr. Ogaree added;

With the Preliminary Conference Program taking shape, with topics such as Field Development,

Subsea Technology, Flowlines & Pipelines, Well Construction/Drilling Operations, Floating Production Facilities, Project Finance, Lessons Learned, Safety and Sustainable Development, Flow Assurance, Integrity Management and Local Content being included, Offshore West Africa 2012 will prove to be the most significant offshore West Africa deepwater technology event worldwide

After a successful 2011 event in Accra, Ghana, attracting over 1,100 attendees from 37 countries around the world, including many major operators, with over 20% of attendees coming from outside of the West African region, the premier technical forum for the West African offshore oil and gas exploration and production industry will return to Nigeria in 2012 for the 16th annual edition.

Supported by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the 16th annual Offshore West Africa will once again address key technology and development issues for the West African offshore oil and gas market, through a comprehensive educational program and three-day exhibition, under the conference theme – Deepwater Technologies for West Africa.
