Sierra Leone: SLEIT Notice to small scale companies
The Government in collaboration with the SLEITI Multi-Stakeholder Group wishes to inform the general public that remedial actions have been put in place to ensure that the suspension of Sierra Leone as an EITI Candidate is lifted and Compliance achieved.
In this regard, the following list of exploration companies are requested to report payments made to government entities during the period 2008 to 2010. Letters of request including the SLEITI Reporting Templates have already been sent to companies which addresses were identified.
For those companies that have not received their letters and reporting templates, you are to collect them from the SLEITI Secretariat, 29 Dundas Street, Freetown from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th March, 2013 between the hours of 9:00am to 5:30pm.
The completed SLEITI Reporting Templates together with copies of all relevant financial documents should be returned to the Secretariat not later than, Monday 25th March 2013.
Companies should note that Sections 159 and 160 of the Mines and Minerals Act, 2009 require all companies to comply with the EITI process and therefore action will be taken against any company that does not comply.
