The much-awaited Paris draft text is out and it has raised serious concerns. Leading climate change activist Mithika Mwenda who coordinates the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) termed the text as unacceptable and reiterated the need for African countries to articulate their objections.
“Particularly there is no mention of climate justice, in addition to other demands from civil society.” Mwenda says. “The mention of Africa in acknowledgement of its vulnerability has been replaced by Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States where countries like Kenya does not fall under”
Great news as trailblazing Zimbabwean comedian Carl Joshua Ncube is set to achieve a major milestone for Zimbabwe comedy as he joins the cast on the BEST OF AFRICA GALA (which includes David Kau, Ndumiso Lindi, Salvado, Churchill) at the Comedy Central International Comedy Festival to be held in Johannesburg at Silverstar Casino from the 25th of November to the 5th of December.
Deepening its commitment to the African healthcare sector, Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) today officially opened the South Africa branch of the Boston Scientific Institute for Advancing Science (IAS) in Johannesburg. The state-of-the-art facility will help train and further develop the skills and knowledge base of local healthcare professionals. With local thought leaders and experts as faculty, the facility will also help meet training needs of the other African nations.
The opening marks the seventh Boston Scientific IAS globally, including sites in the United States, France, Japan and China. Another Institute is slated to open next month in Istanbul.
A modern toilet has been built and subsequently turned over to occupants of the Old Folks Home, persons with disabilities and residents of the Upper Buchanan Community in Grand Bassa County. The toilet has a hand pump and hand washing facility.
The Disable Friendly Latrine Project was implemented by the United Youth for Peace Education, Transparency and Development in Liberia (UYPETDL) with funding from WaterAid in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Programs marking this year’s celebration of World Toilet Day have taken place in Boegeezay Town, Beawor District, Rivercess County.
The celebration organized by the Liberia WASH Consortium was implemented by the Youth and Disable WASH Network in partnership with the United Youth and citizens of Rivercess county.
