The former Resident Representative of the Lutheran World Service/World Federation, Reinhard Tietze has returned to Liberia on a 2-week assessment visit and to provide Training in Development, Capacity Building and Sustainability. Mr. Tietze who was instrumental in the establishment of the Lutheran Development Service (LDS) in Liberia before his departure at the close of 2001 has described his return visit as his continuous interest in Liberia and its people.

The Liberian Leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has told global stakeholders in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector that Water and Sanitation play a very important role in delivering quality healthcare to mankind and called for concerted efforts in bringing needed relief to a huge number of global citizens who need such services.
According to her, there are a lot of people who still don’t have access to WASH services across the world, stressing this must be addressed.
About two hundred thousand women in Liberia and Sierra Leone are being targeted for economic empowerment.
