Ivory Coast: High Level WASH Forum ends in Abidjan

By: WASH R&E “Media” Network-Liberia – The 2013 Ordinary Session of the Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA) Council of Ministers has ended in the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan with several recommendations approved by the Council of Ministers of the Water and Sanitation for all in Africa. The Council of Ministers also elected Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna, Minister of Water and Energy of the Republic of Cameroon as the new Chairman of the Council to spear for a three-year period. LIBERIA: World Toilet Day Celebrations – Communities keep their promise to become Open Defecation Free

By: WASH R&E “Media” Network  – World Toilet Day was celebrated in Bong County by a gathering of 8 county teams who are working with communities to become Open Defecation Free (ODF).  These communities take responsibility for their own sanitation and hygiene with the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and NGO implementing partners.  Nearly 200 communities have become ODF in the past year by their own actions through community-led total sanitation (CLTS) approach.
