Harare, November, 2012: The United States is supporting efforts by the Zimbabwean arts community to promote HIV/AIDS prevention among its members by using discussions and educational activities targeted at the sector. On 1 December, people around the globe will once again celebrate World Aids Day. This year there are even more reasons to celebrate. The recent release of the 2012 USAID report showed that an unprecedented acceleration in the response to Aids is wielding results: The rate of new HIV infections has reduced by more than 50% across 25 low- and middle-income countries. Harare, November 29, 2012: U.S. Ambassador David Bruce Wharton will attend this year’s World AIDS Day commemorations in Beitbridge on December 1st.
