An academic, Professor Richard Akindele, exposed on social media recently for sexually harassing his student has been recommended to be sacked by a committee set up to probe the allegation at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ife. This is contained in a statement released by University management today on the final outcome of its probe and the action recommended.

One of the leading Electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria Ikeja Electric, (IE) has inaugurated a 2×60 MVA transmission station in Odogunyan, a suburb of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. This is contained in a statement issued by its Head Corporate Communications of IE, Mr. Felix Ofulue.It unveiled plans to ensure maximum use of the newly inaugurated transmission Sub-station to wheel more power supply to its numerous customers in Odogunyan, Ogijo, Agbede, Odonla, Igbosoro and Ita-Oluwo. Other areas include Agado Cantonment, Fakale, Odo-kekere, Ita-elewe.

Nigeria: Airline crew foil baby trafficking on Lagos-Banjul bound flight

It took sensitive and vigilant Air Peace cabin crew members to foil attempts by two women to traffic a three-month-old baby boy on the airline’s Lagos-Banjul flight. According to sources the suspected traffickers were exposed mid-flight when the airline’s crew members observed a baby crying unattended to. We gathered that attempts by one of the suspected traffickers, who claimed to be the mother of the baby to soothe him failed. There were also reports that the crew members suggested to the suspected trafficker to breastfeed the baby and she declined.

As the world commemorates this year's World Ocean Day experts at various events to mark the day in Lagos, southwest Nigeria organised by the United Nations Information Centre in collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, NIOMR and a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, FADE experts condemned the used of disposable plastic. The said plastic manufactures should be held accountable for the impact of non-degradable plastic materials which find their ways into the ocean and pose serious threat on the ocean.
