By Morkporkpor Anku (Accra, Ghana)  – The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) said on Thursday that oil production would be the biggest influence on inflation in the country in future. “Given the spending pressures expected from the oil revenue, achieving low single-digit inflation as envisaged would entail exceedingly tight monetary policy, most probably in the form of high and exchange change,” it said. Zambia: Kafue Gorge Lower to increase power output

By Nawa Mutumweno  – The projected power output at the Kafue Gorge Lower hydropower project has been raised from the initial 600 to 800 megawatts. Malawi appoints first female head prosecutor

By Emmanuel Muwamba – Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has appointed Chief State Advocate Rosemary Kanyuka as new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) becoming the first female to head the prosecution team in Malawi. Her appointment makes it the third DPP in the Mutharika administration since 2004. Solicitor General Anthony Kamanga told the press that Kanyuka has been appointed to head the State prosecution team but she will wait for the confirmation by Public Appointments Committee (PAC) of Parliament.
