Liberia as a nation is still grappling with issues and the challenges faced by ordinary Liberians who do not have toilets in their various homes. According to statistics, only about 17 % of Liberians have toilets at their homes.
In a bid to ascertain various conditions at Public Latrines in greater Monrovia and its surroundings, WASH Reporters & Editors Network of Liberia embarked on an assessment of public toilets and the challenges care takers encounter on a daily basis.

The announcement of the auction made by Martin Rapaport, Chairman of the Rapaport Group at a press conference Tuesday in New York City ends widespread speculations by Sierra Leoneans that the diamond was secretly sold by the government of Sierra Leone.
Some twenty-five schools in Margibi County have benefited from modern toilet facilities constructed by Living Water International.
The facilities were turned over to the schools Monday at a program marking the official celebration of World Toilet Day in that part of Liberia which was observed under the Theme “Waste Water”.
Speaking in Weala, Margibi County during the indoor program which followed the official dedication of the facilities, the Country Director of Living Water International, Austin Nyaplue indicated that his organization with support from international partners saw the need to provide Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities at those institutions.
As part of World Toilet Day celebration 2017 under the theme: "Waste Water", the government of Liberia, Donor partners, Civil Society and students gathered in the Capital of Montserrado County, Bentol to commemorate the Day.
The program commenced with a grand parade in the principal streets of Bentol with development partners, Civil Society and Government joining students to demonstrate the importance of the Day.
Providing an overview of World Toilet Day, Amos Gborie of the Ministry of Health said the Day was set aside by the United Nations and other partners to highlight the difficulties billions of people experience due to the lack of toilet facilities.
As part of efforts to reduce the high rate of malnutrition, infant and maternal mortality, as well as stunting among children in rural communities in Nigeria, natnudO Foods Limited, producers of natnudO Chicken and eggs, has donated five thousand (5,000) Noiler birds and seventy- five thousand (7,5000) eggs to indigent people in the Borno State, northeast Nigeria. This includes widows and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
