By Justin Oliver Zinda – The British National Party (BNP)’s leader, Nick Griffin, with 2 other members of his party appeared in court on 8th November 2010 accused of lying over the BNP’s constitution. They are facing charges pressed by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, which says the BNP is refusing to obey orders to remove a ‘non-white’ clause. The Equality and Human Rights watchdog, acting for the Commission, is claiming that the BNP’s constitution is potentially discriminatory. Source ICTR: On  8 November 2010 the Prosecution and the Defence presented their closing arguments  in  the  trial  of Jean-Baptiste Gatete, former Mayor of Murambi Commune  in  Byumba  prefecture  and later Director in the Women and Family Affairs  Ministry.  The  accused  is  charged  with  six  counts  including Genocide,  or,  in  the  alternative, complicity in genocide; conspiracy to commit  genocide;  and the crimes against humanity of extermination, murder and rape. Gambia: Senior National Intelligent Agent (NIA) Officer, others charged

By Own Correspondent – A senior operative of the National Intelligent Agency and two others were last Friday arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Emmanuel Nkea charged with conspiracy and unlawful wounding with intent to cause grievous harm. The accused persons, Lamin Darboe, a senior NIA operative, Alagie Edrissa Jobe, former head of the Special Operation Unit at the NIA, and Ebrima Drammeh, National Drug Enforcement Agency Commissioner for Kanifing Division, all denied the charges. By Own Correspondent – The criminal trial for assault against Pa Jallow, the opposition United Democratic Party National Assembly member for Jarra Central, continued yesterday at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Fredrick Forster. Jallow was alleged to have assaulted one Isatou Marenah, a police officer, by slapping her while in the due execution of her duties on 13th October 2010 at Nusrat Junction in the Kanifing Municipality, a charge he denied.
