Mappy and Yomou Prefecture Prefect Mustapha Forowe Conole presided over the meeting, which included Paramount Chiefs, County Health Officers and Team Members, Joint Security representatives, community leaders and NGO representatives.

Improper garbage disposal by residents, meanly those engaged in swamp land development is said to have contributed to a wave of flooding in recent days leaving thousands of dwellers homeless in Liberia’s Capital, Monrovia. Six hours of heavy down pour of rain on the first day of June followed by subsequent down pours on the second day of the new month in Monrovia triggered the wave of flooding.

The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) is calling on Liberian women to develop keen interest in identifying their rights to land ownership in Liberia because Land Rights issues are also women rights. OSIWA’s Country Officer, Massa Crayton said: “Now is the time to let you know from communities to communities that the issues of Land Rights are also women rights because women are one of the proper owner of the land”.

Council Member Cumbo representing Brooklyn’s District 35, elected officials, parents, children and staff of 8 daycare providers rallied Thursday at the Steps of City Hall to persuade New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to save the fourteen-daycare centers from impending closure.

Africa: Development strategists call for ethical governance in enhancing prosperity

African leaders have once again been reminded that they should enhance governance in order to bring quick development in their countries. This is said to be a big gap so far. This advice came about during the two days 2015 Africa Prosperity Summit, when analysts were discussing what has gone wrong over the five decades of the post independent politics, the Summit was hosted at the Hyatt Regency in Dar es Salaam on May 20th and 21st. The Summit was convened by the Legatum Institute and the Ford Foundation East Africa
