Government of Tanzania to unveil major plan to end agriculture marketing woes

The President’s Delivery Bureau (PDB) that oversees implementation of the Big Results Now (BRN) initiative, has invited key agriculture stakeholders to evaluate and propose solutions to critical agriculture marketing issues in Tanzania. Towards that end, a five day mini lab has been organized to review current marketing models and trends for maize and paddy.

The group Concerned Sierra Leoneans, USA say they subjected Sierra Leone’s Head of State, President Dr. Ernest Koroma to immense embarrassment Friday in Washington. About 100 protesters with placards, bullhorns and drums demonstrated against President Koroma outside the World Bank Headquarters in Washington where he was presenting his Ebola recovery plans for additional money and support during the financial institution’s annual meeting.

Migrant boat capsizes in Lampedusa: 700 feared dead

A major rescue operation has been launched off the coast of Italy where as many as 700 people are feared to have been on board a boat that has capsized this morning. It is believed that the 20–metre long boat overturned when the migrants moved to one side of the overcrowded in desperate bid to get off as a merchant ship approached. A rescue programme which was in place to rescue migrants was scrapped by the EU, November last year but yet the number of people trying to cross the Mediterranean has not dropped and the number of those dying has increased significantly.
