Zimbabwe: Research shows higher rape cases than previous elections

By Misheck Rusere – A research carried by two Non Governmental Organisations namely the Research and Advocacy Unit and Zimbabwe Doctors for Human Rights has revealed that the country’s 2008 elections resulted in the highest number of rapes compared to other elections since 2000. Malawi vice president Joyce Banda fired from ruling party

Emmanuel Muwamba – President Bingu wa Mutharika has fired two senior party members-Vice President Joyce Banda and former minister Khumbo Kachali from the  ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Banda and Kachali were first and second party deputy president presidents respectively. Mutharika who is also president of the party fired the two at a meeting of DPP National Governing Council (NGC) on Saturday. The meeting lasted about four hours. Zimbabwe’s PM sues Mugabe over power sharing

By Nangayi Guyson – Harare – Zimbabwe’s prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai on Thursday filed a case suing President Robert Mugabe for violating the constitution and a power-sharing agreement. He said he seeks annulment of Mugabe’s unilateral appointment of 10 provincial governors last month, which he alleged in court papers intentionally violated the constitution.
