By Dennis Kabatto – After an emotional homecoming to Freetown, Sierra Leone in December 2016, the Krio Descendants Union Northeast Chapter will assemble in New Brunswick, New Jersey for its 9th Family Reunion. LIBERIA: Rural Communities benefit from WASH Training

As part of efforts to ensure that Liberians, especially rural dwellers have access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene, a local NGO constructing WASH facilities, has begun WASH training for rural communities. Eleven Communities in Grand Cape Mount county are benefiting from the Initiative through hand pump mechanic and WASH software training. The project is undertaken by the Community Development Services (CODES), with support from WaterAid/Irish Aid WASH project in Cape Mount.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Momodu Kargbo said Tuesday that the government of Sierra Leone considers extreme poverty as a prevalence of injustice and serious threat to national security. He made the comment during his national statement at a three day ministerial meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development, “eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world” which concluded at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York.
