Tanzania halts road plans across Serengeti

By Kizito Makoye, Dar es Salaam – Tanzania has stopped plans to build a tarmac road across Serengeti National Park. Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources, Ezekiel Maige, confirmed to this reporter that the government has considered recommendations of the Environmental Impact Assessment study  carried out prior to the project, thus it has resolved to rescind its plans for the sake of   the park’s ecosystem. HARARE, 1 July 2011 (IRIN) – A combined effort by donor agencies, foreign governments, local organizations and the Zimbabwean government is slowly improving the water infrastructure while reducing the chances that cholera will return. ICC issues arrest warrant for Muammar Gaddafi

By Nangayi Guyson (in Kampala, Uganda) – The International Criminal Court on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi, accusing him of crimes against humanity. The Hague-based court also issued warrants for two of Col Gaddafi’s top aides – his son Saif al-Islam and intelligence chief Abdullah al-Sanussi.
