Uganda: Drama as President of the opposition party Besigye is arrested

By Own Correspondent – Drama ensued this morning in Kasangati trading centre in Wakiso district when the president of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye was arrested and detained at Kasangati Police station.   The police and other security organizations have accused Besigye of organising a demonstration against high fuel and commodity prices in Uganda. The police rounded off Besigye, along Kampala -Gayaza road, where some people had joined him to walk to the city centre. Besigye was arrested together with a group of seven other FDC activists. Liberia Elections Commission launches awareness campaign

By Own Correspondent with support from New Dawn Newspaper-Liberia – The National Elections Commission (NEC) Tuesday launched a 150-day civic and voters’ awareness campaign ahead of the 2011 Constitutional Referendum and general polls.
