Improper garbage disposal by residents, meanly those engaged in swamp land development is said to have contributed to a wave of flooding in recent days leaving thousands of dwellers homeless in Liberia’s Capital, Monrovia.
Six hours of heavy down pour of rain on the first day of June followed by subsequent down pours on the second day of the new month in Monrovia triggered the wave of flooding.

OSIWA’s Country Officer, Massa Crayton said: “Now is the time to let you know from communities to communities that the issues of Land Rights are also women rights because women are one of the proper owner of the land”.

Eight communities in Kakata and Gibi Districts, Margibi County have been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF). These communities were triggered for Community Led Total Sanitation Initiative by the Christian charity, Living Water International in February this year.
