Ghana: BIG BROTHER -AFRICA WINNER -UTI WINS BIG AWARD IN GHANA
By Peterking Quaye – Uti Nwachukwu won the Best Actor /West Africa collaboration on Christmas day in Ghana ,set a record for being the first Nigerian to get the award .Despite it was the first edition ,Uti name will go down in the books of movie industry of Ghana for picking the award . Nominated in the Best Actor – West Africa Collaboration category of the maiden Ghana Movie Awards for his role in ‘Bursting Out’.
At an impressive show ,for the first in Ghana ,his Christmas day was grand with him holding an approximately 50 kg metal award from the hospitable people of Ghana ,beaming with smiles .
He beat the stiff competition from fellow Nigerian actors, Yemi Blaq [SINKING SANDS], Ramsey Noah [GUILTY PLEASURES], and Desmond Elliot [GUILTY PLEASURES].
Uti,27 i is well known across the African continent for his double appearance on the hit reality TV series, Big Brother Africa and for ultimately winning the most recent all-star edition, he first gained recognition in Ghana when he won the second position in the Next Movie Star (Ghana/Nigeria).
Uti, appeared in a multi-national billboard ad in 2007, he holds a 2-year Diploma in Computer Science and Education from the University of Nigeria. He previously applied to be on Big Brother Africa but was delayed to the audition because of an exam.
The one-time bank employee appeared on the Nigerian reality series Next Movie Star, which he finished as the runner-up, before being selected for Big Brother Africa 3.
Listing his mom and dad as his heroes, Uti says the best advice he’s received from a friend was, “happiness is a state of mind and it usually begins with a choice.” A fan of Chelsea Football Club,
Working as an actor, TV presenter, model and MC, the 27-year-old BSc. Ed (Computer Science) graduate.
In a short speech after taking his award ,he thanked Ghana for voting him with the super vote in the BBA show and went on to thanked the organizer of the event and all Ghanaians that voted for him to take the award from people he called his mentor .
Nominated alongside fellow Nigerian actors, Yemi Blaq [SINKING SANDS], Ramsey Noah [GUILTY PLEASURES], and Desmond Elliot [GUILTY PLEASURES].Uti Nwachukwu is a Nigerian actor, TV presenter, model and MC from Lagos best known as one of the 12 housemates on the third season of the reality television competition Big Brother Africa, in 2008.
