Synonymous with all her productions, the premiere registered a capacity attendance. Shirley, unlike her previous productions, was this time with a novelty movie, a ten-part series and audience response was really crucial. She explained earlier that the series have been necessitated by popular demand and that her fans said “one or two movies a year is not enough.”

Monitoring the audience’s constant giggling and applause throughout the premiere, it was obvious Shirley has once again nailed it with another excellent production. Many enthusiasts who spoke me in an interview  after the premiere said they can’t wait to see the subsequent chapters of the series.

Chapter One of Adams Apples is set in the hustle and bustle of the city of Accra and it follows the lives of the four “Adams” – Ghanaian women; the widowed, ex-diplomat’s wife and her three daughters in their early and mid thirties.

They work through domestic struggles, family life and personal battles to achieve success and happiness in a fast changing, 21st Century Ghana where love can elude the helplessly romantic; victory can scorn the hardworking and marriage can forever be an illusion. The Adams seek all these and more from life and each other.

The series stars renowned and fresh acts such as Yvonne Okoro, Jocelyn Dumas, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, Adjetey Anang, John Dumelo, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and many new exciting faces who also attended the premiere.

According to producers, Sparrow Productions, each chapter of Adams Apples will open at the cinema every month over a 12-month period.

Also   Kwaw Ansah’s latest production, The Good Old Days , this will be the second in the series of 26 series of the movie . The Good Old Days – Papa Lasisi Good Bicycle, playing the role of Maame Mansa, a mother and wife of Joe E Mensah.

The Good Old Days – Papa Lasisi Good Bicycle tells the story of Papa Lasisi a Lagotian petty trader who is popularly known in the community as a shrewd businessman. Every penny in his world counts and would therefore not discount a penny.

It is when the daring children of Joe E Mensah attempt to outwit Papa Lasisi on hiring his bicycle that people realize the extent of Papa Lasisi’s shrewdness.

This film features the likes of Psalm Ajetefio, Jackson Davis, Fred Amugi, and others. The lead role is however played by three boys, Aaron Adatsi, Michael Owusu Afriyie and Samuel Obeng, who were all part of the first episode.
