Ghana: Rick Ross ‘Teflon Don’ Sets Ghana ‘Ablaze’

Born William Leonard Roberts II, was making his first appearance in Ghana and clearly, he loved every bit of it – he was instantly hit by the unquenchable energy from both the stage and a possessed crowd. With a wide smile that showed he was deeply grateful to be in Ghana, the Boss was already rocking as he was ushered into the Dome of the Accra International Conference.
His presence drove the audience into a different realm, the result being an instant stampede as many wanted to catch a glimpse of the Hip hop maestro. At that moment everybody was up standing, some standing on their ‘needless’ seats, with a sea of fans converging around the stage.
The concert that was expected to have an eclectic collection of popular Ghanaian faces and time-tested music of the hip-hop music scene came off with Rick Ross rather performing very
early, taking the stage before 8pm.Rick Ross came onto the stage with his 15 man crew, greeted with the loudest cheers from the crowd.
Fantasy Entertainment is alleged to have paid Rick Ross around $180, 000 to perform for less 90 minutes hr in Ghana after sleeping for more than 6 hrs when entered Ghana from Nigeria .Surprisingly arrangement by the organizer went sour when, Rick Ross if to show up for a media-packed press conference, only for the media men to told “he says, he very tire and is sleeping-bullshit,It wouldn’t have changed anything, if they announced that Rick Ross was catching an early flight to south Africa so would perform early just to avoid the angry crowd.

The show opened with J-Town’s one of Ghana’s young hip hop Hitmaker performance followed by label mate EL dishing out good and real GH hip-hop music. Ghana Movie Awards’ multiple award winner Kwaw Kese stayed true to his words, fresh from USA purposely for the Rick Ross concert came up next after Rick Ross.
His closing remarks Rick Ross, said “Ghanaian should be one ,stay together, love each other, help each other ,Africa is our own” am gon leave ya in Peace he add .
Female Ghana Hiplife hopeful Tiffany did her best to kindle her energy with the crowd; daunting task for the only female act on the bill. She was later joined by Sarkodie to do the remix of “Fake London”.
Coming from UK and on the Konvict record label Sarkodie, Sway’s performance on stage was so good that he had the crowd shouting along with him. His fans helped out on party
favourites like “F Ur Ex,” “Intoxicated” and raping in twi ,leaving his fan spellbound. You could feel the bass deep down in your chest and rattling your head around when he took it to the UK level with his ‘grimey’ songs.
Trigmatic seemed to be having fun and he shared that joy of performing with the audience, who were on their feet the entire time and sang along with him.
Channel Nominee, as well as 15 music nominations, D-Black alongside Dr. Cryme. Sexy Tinny “Aletse” followed and delivered a humble performance and heartfelt acknowledgment to his fans present then came Asem’s.
Critically assessing the entire event from some ticket buyer especially the VIP ticket holder, majority of them interview was of the view that the event had poor publicity especially with media management, bad security. If Fantasy Entertainment wants to be in this business then they have to get their acts tights because the industry does not put up with such unethical event management practices. Tickets prices was tagged from 75Ghc approximately $54.00 US for Regular Tickets , 105 Ghc approximately $105 US for V.I.P and 150 Ghc approximately $152 US for V.V.I.P. Rick Ross backed by his own DJ ‘dishing out’ and ‘scratching’ songs from his old albums and latest song from his platinum-selling album, “Teflon Don” album .
