Reewind 80s Impact Set to Rekindle Dancehall Reggae
By Dennis Kabatto – Irish and Chin’s fifth edition of Rewind & Come Again, a celebration of Rub a Dub culture is being billed as New York’s Reggae event of the year. The event will offer patrons the experience of leading Reggae artists and selectors performing live on legendary foundation sounds on Saturday, November 9 at the Club Amazura located in the Queens section of New York.
The heavy lineup includes King Yellowman, Josey Wales, Luciano, Johnny Osbourne, Brigadier Jerry, Charlie Chaplin, Muma Nancy, General Trees, Michigan & Smiley, U-Roy/King Stur Gav, Ilawi/Jah Love, Danny Dread/ King Addies and DJ Roy/Irie Jam Radio.
“We are overjoyed by the buzz for ‘Reewind’ and guarantee that the audience will witness more than 4 hours of non-stop, solid entertainment,” says Flair Lindsey, Irish and Chin’s Publicist.
Flair assures dancehall reggae fans that “It is our goal to provide consumers with the best value for their money. The historical ‘Reeewind’ raises the bar. Everyone that comes out will experience and revel in the Reggae event of a lifetime.”
Rewind and Come Again 80s Impact comes at a time when dancehall reggae seems to be on a downward spiral plagued with scandals and stirring controversies over violent and explicit contents.
“What the people need is spirituality through positive messages and that’s what I plan to do at Reeewind,” Luciano said in a statement. Patrons are set to be treated with old Luciano favorites including Lord give me strength, It’s me again jah, Over the hills, Give praise, Knocking on heaven’s door, and How can you, among so many others.
Can the 5th edition of Rewind and Come Again rekindle the glory days of dancehall reggae at least in New York when the vibes were not only nice but uplifting? The only way to find out is to go check it out.
