Veteran Nollywood actor, Justice Esiri & father of pop star, Dr. Sid dies at seventy-one
By Correspondent Chinyere Ogbonna – For many Nigerians and the country’s entertainment industry, this month may not go down well in history as Veteran Nigerian actor, Justice Esiri passed on just days after former Big Brother Africa room-mate, Goldie Harvey passed on after returning from the United States of America where she witnessed the Grammy awards.
His son, Marvin artist and pop star confirmed the sad incident through his tweeter page when he changed his bio to “RIP Dad”.
Dr. Sid did not make public the cause of the dad’s death. Before his death late Mr. Esiri was said to have passed on after battling with diabetes.
He is reported to have died in a Lagos hospital at the age of seventy-one. The award winning actor who also starred and played a leading role in the popular Village Headmaster of the 1980′s died last night.
Late Mr. Esiri who was a, Member of the Order of the Niger, MON, was famous for his role as the village headmaster in the then popular television series of the same name.
Born on 20 November 1942 in Oria-Abraka, Deltta State, in the Niger Delta region, late Mr. Esiri attended Urhobo College Effurun in the then Bendel State,Warri.
He attended the Maximillan University, Munich, German, 1964, Prof.Weners Institute of Engineering, West Berlin, 1967 and the Ahrens School of Performing Arts, 1968.
The veteran actor started his acting career in Germany. Late Mr. Esiri was married to his wife Omiete, and they had six children.
