Y FM set to storm the Streets of Accra with some Africa’s Best DJs
By Peterking Quaye – One of Ghana’s urban youth radio station is set to bring innovation in radio broadcasting in the nation’s capital, with a street event dubbed ‘The Y FM Area Code Jam’ .The event is to appreciate and celebrate loyal listeners and fans of Y107.9FM .
On the 6th November 2010 the event will come live and connect to listeners on the streets of Accra. As part of activities outlined for its second anniversary, Y107.9FM, as the official radio station for the Young and Young at Heart. The station will treat several fans and listeners to a November to remember with the “YFM Area Code Jam”.
The street jam will feature all Y FM presenters and DJs as well as several popular artistes. The occasion will also be use to officially celebrate two of Africa’s best Celebrity DJs, Nana Kwame (a.k.a DJ Killer Fingers) and Sammy Forson, ranked high on Africa’s Top Ten DJs Chart in a search recently conducted by Mnet Studio 53 Extra.
Venue for the Area Code Jam will be determined by listeners across the city. The Area Codes Jam will be held at locations with the most Y FM listeners. The Area Code Jam will be held at a busy street of the winning area.
In a release by the Brooke Nuwati, Corperate Communicatios Manager of Global Media Alliance on 26th October,2010, It closed that Aside featuring artistes, the occasion will also offer a unique opportunity for interaction, photo sessions with celebrities and networking. The audience will further be engaged through other exciting activities such as singing and dancing competition. The street jam will end with an after party at a popular night club or pub in that area to be hosted by Y FM Presenters and DJs.
In just two years after joining the airwaves, this creation of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC) has offered valuable choice for several listeners especially the youth who have been craving and yearning for a radio frequency solely for them. With an unmatched programming and innovation, YFM has endeared itself to several listeners in Accra and its immediate environs.
Other activities to mark YFM’s second anniversary include YFM Car Wash Bash and a thanksgiving service.
The Y FM Area Code Jam’ is expected to packed with several radio presenter celebrities, such as Super Soul Sister Miss Naa, Nana Kwame, Jeremie, Sammy Forson, DJ Blow, DJ Killer Fingers, George Brun, Black Santino, Papa Sly ,Trigmatic, Flexy and DJ Kess of YFM .
