Zimbabwe: Beauty Queens to host charity concert
By Staff Reporter – Face of Zimbabwe beauty queens, Tinashe Kamangirira and Nokuthaba Vuma are set to host a charity gig in Coventry, United Kingdom this weekend. The club party is a fundraiser for Zimbabwe’s children in need through ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ the charity arm of Face of Zimbabwe.
The Coventry concert will feature live performances from talented Zim based UK artists, Lax Luga, Prodigal Nutty Gora and Young Chigz. The gig will also feature ‘a turn-table battle’ of some of the best DJs on the UK circuit, Drima Boyz, Firelox, Simple Dred, Fishatainment, KJ Glider and Skills Don. The packed line-up of star acts and upcoming musicians is expected to set the night ablaze for a worthy cause.
Speaking ahead of the event, one of the organisers of the event, Tinashe Kamangirira, who was crowned Miss December, Face of Zimbabwe in 2011 said “We are really excited about this event and pay tribute to all the artists who are offering their services for us to raise funds for charity, we are truly humbled by the support we have received.”
Face of Zimbabwe Trust is an organisation which seeks to promote Zimbabwe at home and abroad through beauty, tourism and charity. The trust runs Face of Zimbabwe competition, a popular online beauty competition in which Zimbabweans of all races residing all over the world are eligible to enter.
The show is also set to attract a legion of Zimbabwean beauty queens from all over the United Kingdom such as reigning Miss Valentine, contestants from Miss Teen Zimbabwe and Face of Zimbabwe who are all billed to attend.
The two hosts, Tinashe and Nokuthaba will also be autographing copies of Face of Zimbabwe calendars, in which they feature, which will be on sale on the night. Proceeds from the event will go towards Face of Zimbabwe Trust’s child sponsorship programme in Epworth. The programme is currently fundraising for school fees, food, clothing and medical requirements for 24 orphaned children.
Lax Luga, one of the artists lined up for a performance at the concert, promised his fans through the social networking site Facebook, ‘a show they will never forget’. The charity concert, the first of its kind in the UK is supported by a leading community internet radio station, ZimOnline Radio.
