Information for Change 2010: Digital Publishing in Africa: The Next Steps

Event summary

First launched in 2007, the Information for Change initiative is a series of workshops that bring together individuals and organisations involved in generating, publishing, and using information for development from across Africa. The workshops are designed to be a platform for all who create, communicate, disseminate, or use information, and are involved in the changes brought about by the digital revolution. The workshops provide participants with an opportunity to come together to share experiences, learn from others, and network.

Information for Change 2010 will examine emerging digital publishing models in East Africa. Speakers will present first-hand experience of the realities of working in the region, and will showcase and share innovative approaches to the creation and delivery of information. The programme will include a keynote address, a speaker-led panel session, two World Café sharing sessions, case studies presentations, a venue for participants to display materials, and a moderated interactive session that will involve all participants.

Deadline for registration: September 3 2010

Researchers, authors, print and online publishers, booksellers, librarians and resource centre managers, advocacy organisations, academics, civil servants, policymakers, and those campaigning for social change are invited to apply. There are 100 places available at this workshop. If the workshop is oversubscribed, places will be allocated by the organisers to ensure that all organisations registering are represented, and that there is a rich diversity of participants.
