Liberia: Living Water International Celebrates 31st Anniversary

…. Targets 35,000 USD to carry out project in Nimba – By: WASH R&E “Media” – The Christian Charity, Living Water International has celebrated 31 years providing safe drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene for needy communities around the world.

Living Water International (LWI) 31st Anniversary was held under the global theme: “ONE THIRST”.

ONE THIRST is LWI biggest event intended to raise three million United States dollars that will enable the charity worldwide provide clean and safe drinking water to 100,000 persons.

In Liberia, the Charity has targeted 35,000 United States dollars to support mini pipe water system that will provide water to 6,000 people. 

According to Living Water International Country Director, Austin Nyaplue, this year LWI is celebrating 31 years globally and 17 years  in Liberia providing safe, clean and sustainable water.

“we are recollecting the past 31 years celebrating the lives of 6.4 million people in 18 countries around the world who have benefited from safe water, improved methods of hygiene and sanitation”, Mr. Nyaplue noted.

Launching the 35,000 United States dollars fund drive for the mini pipe water system, the Senior Pastor of the Liberty Christian Center, Rev. Dr. Simeon Dunbar encouraged Liberians to be supportive of initiatives that will support growth in the country.

Rev. Dr. Dunbar indicated that Liberians should now make use of their natural resources and not to rely on extended aid to develop their country.

He commended Living Water International for the personal initiative to support government in providing safe, clean and sustainable water.

As part of the occasion held at Royal Hotel in Monrovia, several institutions and personalities were honored for their contributions to sustaining the facilities constructed by Living Water International.

In remarks, the Chairman of the National WASH Commission, Bobby Whitefield, who is one of the honorees, thanked Living Water International for the honor, and said the honor will make the Commission more robust in its activities. 

Also making remarks, several Lawmakers attending the program assured the Christian Charity of their support in the execution of LWI’s projects.

Presently, Living Water International is implementing water, sanitation and hygiene programs in Garrbain District, Nimba County.

The charity asserted that it will spend the next 5 years in the implementation of the project.
