South Africa: Goethe-Institut Südafrika – German Cultural Centre in Johannesburg
Jürgen Schadeberg may be best known in South African imagination for his freelance photography while at Drum magazine and for the resultant body of work that documented the lives of South Africans in the fifties. The photographs represent the life and struggle of South Africans during Apartheid and include important figures in South A…frica’s history such as Nelson Mandela, Moroka, Walter Sisulu and Yusuf Dadoo.
The Goethe-Institut is happy to announce a talk & film-screening with Schadeberg on 8 November, which will coincide with the opening of a selection of works from his “Voices of the land” (2005) on display at the Goethe-Institut until the end of the year.
