South Africa: ‘Pink Peddlers – peddling for breast health’

Want to cycle the 94.7 with meaning and purpose? Do it in pink in a Pink Peddler kit and raise awareness around breast cancer!

The Pink Peddlers (sponsored by Nightwing Couriers) are a cycle team that support the Breast Health Foundation (BHF), raising awareness around breast health, the treatment of breast cancer and the support groups available. The outfits, consisting of a pink shirt and cycling pants, will be available for sale at the 94.7 Cycle Challenge expo at the Sandton Convention Centre this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (18-20 November) to anyone with a race entry. Funds will go to the BHF to advance breast health education. And there’s more…

If you also want to raise funds for the BHF, get your friends and family to sponsor your ride. If you raise more than R2000, the BHF will refund you the cost of your shirt. And if you are not a cyclist, you can be Crew. Pink Peddler Crew are volunteers who manage the logistics, tables, refreshments, etc and generally support the cyclists during the course of the race.

The vision of the BHF is to redefine the face of breast cancer as perceived by South Africans in general and patients in particular; promoting a positive mindset of survival, recovery and quality of life. The BHF hopes to raise R100 000 at this event.

One in nine women are likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Caught early and treated, 97% survive. Go on… do it for your mom, your sister, your daughter, your friend, your lover. Breast cancer awareness month may have come and gone but let’s keep the wheels of breast cancer awareness turning!
