The 16th Global Women Leaders Conference kicks-off today in Dubai
Organized by Datamatix, the ‘16th Global Women Leaders Conference’ kicked-off today and is being held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, DIFC in Dubai, UAE. The sixteenth edition of the conference gathers the most prominent and finest of minds in women leadership in 21st century as participants, partners, and speakers in this significant event. The event is graced by the presence of its chief guests Mr. Paolo Lembo, United Nations Resident Coordinator in UAE, Qatar and Oman, UNDP and Ms. Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen, Consul-General, Turkish Consulate in Dubai/UAE.
Mr. Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director, Datamatix extended a warm welcome to the participants by wishing them a successful conference that promotes the role of women and women leadership in our society and encouraging them to come to the forefront of global scenario and demonstrate their capabilities and competitiveness. He also emphasized on the recently witnessed developments in progressive science and technology and the 21st century women leadership that has played an active role in the conservation of tradition and culture and promulgation of knowledge. He said that Datamatix highlights the influential role of women leadership in the modern global and digital economy on the occasion of 103rd International Women’s Day.
The conference, sponsored by ‘Thomson Reuters’, ‘smith&nephew’, ‘Dove’, ‘Ponds’, ‘United Arab Emirates University’, and ‘Attitude’ was inaugurated by Mr. Paolo Lembo, United Nations Resident Coordinator in UAE, Qatar and Oman, UNDP by presenting the conference vision and giving the message of ‘103rd International Women’s Day’. He emphasized on the role of women leaders in the emerging global economic market and in the building of a sustainable global nation. The first session was addressed by keynote speaker Ms. Sheikha Hend Al Qassimi, Middle East Representative of Kairos, on ‘Entrepreneurship challenges faced by aspiring women leaders’ wherein she focused on the present and future challenges for women leaders in excelling in entrepreneurship and also emphasized on the challenges in the development of young women leaders.
The second session focused on empowerment of women leaders in government entities and was addressed by Ms. Muhra Rashed Sultan Almuhairi, Middle Managers Section Head, Leadership Programs Department, Center of Excellence, General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi. She emphasized on the role of government organizations in empowering and reshaping the role of women leaders and focused on the various cultural and social barriers to success in attaining leadership positions in government organizations. Ms. Khuloud Al Nuwais, Chief Sustainability Officer.
Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, presented her views on the challenges faced by women leaders in acquiring international leadership positions. She focused on the necessity for developing quality training programs for developing leadership skills to achieve international positions in global organizations. Ms. Salama Ajlan Mesfer Alameemi, Executive Director, Organizational Development and Excellence Office made her presentation on ‘Maximizing the effectiveness of education reform and the role of policy making and inspirational leadership. Ms. Tinaa Chikhani gave a brief and interesting overview of Unilever and its involvement in women development and confidence building.
The post break session, began with the presentation of keynote speaker, Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen, Consul-General, Turkish Consulate in Dubai/UAE focusing on the 21st Century Women Empowerment Strategies and Challenges in Accordance with Global Competitiveness, and emphasized on the global trends and strategies that defines women in the modern century and makes them eligible to encounter global challenges. It was followed by the presentation of MAY ASSAF, Senior Manager, Government and International Development Assistance Consulting, Women in Business Champion
PricewaterhouseCoopers’ – Kuwait who focused on the challenges and opportunities for women to establish business and developing it. Dr. Haifaa Alajmi, Senior Process Engineer -Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) PhD in Petroleum Engineering – Imperial College London, made a presentation on the future of women in the oil and gas industry and the various factors that hinder the participation of women in this field. Ms. Rosanna Chopra, Managing Director, Galadari, Advocates and Legal Consultants presented her views on Challenges faced by women in acquiring Senior Legal and Judicial Positions.
The day ended with a concluding panel discussion chaired by Kelvin Johnson, President of Smith & Nephew’s International Markets, Smith & Nephew, Carlo Pignataro, Founder & Master Trainer, SELLING SKILLS EMPOWERMENT, and Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director, Datamatix.
