ZIMBABWE – International Year of the Youth Conference

Cost: $2 individual registration before the day and $5 on the day
$20 Young entrepreneurs (under 30) business exhibition registration
$25 corporate exhibition registration and youth organizations
The conference is youth driven and brings together young people, advocates of youth development, academics, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, governmental organizations and corporate organizations to present and discuss the various opportunities available for economic development and how young people can be a part of the changing dynamics in Zimbabwe. The conference will be held with the theme: Exploring economic opportunities for young people in Zimbabwe’ in the Harare Gardens on Saturday 14 August 2010.
Some of the confirmed workshops that will be running will be on the Entrepreneurial mindset, Effective leadership, and financial literacy and investment opportunities. The event promises to be a defining moment in addressing youth development from different perspectives and hearing the voices of young people. Participants will also visit in between session the ‘idea factory’ corner where people will provide different solutions to the pressing challenges in the country. A team will synthesize these ideas and the best 20 will be published.
They will also be inspiring exhibitions by successful young entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe and other youth and corporate organizations with products and services for the young people.
International Year of the Youth (August 12, 2010 – August 11, 2011) The United Nations have proclaimed the International year of the Youth beginning 12th August 2010 to 11th August 2011. This is an initiative aimed at harnessing the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in overcoming the challenges facing humankind. The theme for the year will be ‘Dialogue and Mutual Understanding’.
