Gambia: Fatim Badjie is new Health Minister
By Own Correspondent – President Yahya Jammeh last Friday made yet another change in the cabinet, news monitored over GRTS radio revealed.
The latest executive exercise saw Ms Fatim Badjie, former minister of Communications, Information and Information Technology coming in as the new minister of Health and Social Welfare.
She replaces the late Dr Abubacarr Gaye, former minister of Health and Social Welfare who passed away on 2nd December 2010.
Until her appointment as health minister, Fatim Badjie, who was removed as communications minister on 5th February 2009, was the Managing Director of Ace Communication Executive, an outsource destination for corporate communication work that specialises in public relations, training, media consulting, corporate branding through concrete media content analysis and guide communication strategies.
Ms. Fatim Badjie, 27, is Gambia’s youngest cabinet minister. She was the Senior Communications Officer at Comium GSM Company. Daughter to Dembo Badjie, a seasoned Gambian diplomat, she studied Mass Communication at Nashville, Tennessee, USA, graduating with a Bachelors degree as at 2008.
