National Blood Services of Zimbabwe to maintains blood banks levels
By Alfred Tembo – National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ) has roiled up sleeves in order to curb high blood shortages that usually hard hit the organisation during the festive season.
In a statement, released to shout-africa.com by NBSZ Gweru head office, there are high rates of road carnages, increase demand of the precious fluid.
“The period records the highest number of roads accident, major fatalities and high demands for blood and blood products.
“However during this period the blood banks experience critical blood shortages, which is mainly caused by the closure of schools and the other institutions that provide Zimbabwe with safe and clean blood”.
“School that provided 75% of the usable and blood products will be closed “. NBSZ has set aside the month of December as a Youth Donor month, with various campaigning activities lined up throughout the month to publicise the campaigns includes roads road show, clean up cp campaigns in order to raise awareness and the need for volunteers to donate.
Pledge 25 is Zimbabwe’s brain child that have now spread world over, allows youths to pledge to donate blood for at least 25 times, extended it s appreciation to the supportive youths who are making the he campaign realise its fruits. “The youth club aims at capturing all out of school blood donors”.
