Gambia: Journalists commemorate on assassination of renowned colleague
By Femi Peters – Activities to commemorate the assassination of a renowned journalist Deyda Hydara, Co-publisher and Editor of The Point Newspaper in The Gambia have been lined up for tomorrow the 16th of December, 2010.This event would be commemorated with a public lecture on the topic: “The impact of the internet on the Future of the Newspaper” by Mr. George Christensen, proprietor Radio 1 FM as the guest lecturer.
Deyda Hydara was gunned down as he drove from work. His gruesome murder shocked the Gambian public including the media fraternity of which Mr. Hydara was a active member. Up till today, investigation into his death are still on and no one has been brought to book for his murder.
