Liberia: WaterAid Builds Capacity of WASH CSOs

By: WASH R&E “Media” Network – Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) involved in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Advocacy in Liberia, have benefited from an intensive One Month Capacity Development Training.

The Training was conducted by ICampus/Accountability Lab Liberia, with support from WaterAid Liberia to provide WASH CSOs with Capacity Development Support to enhance the more robust quality performance of their activities.  

The Liberia WASH CSOs were trained in Data Collections and Analysis using Kobo Toolbox, Digital Media Production, Storytelling & Advocacy, and Community Engagement Best Practices.

Speaking Friday, February 12, 2021 at the official certification in Monrovia, WaterAid Liberia Country Director, Chuchu Selma extolled the efforts of the participants to have gone through the training successfully and urged them to put into practice what they learned.

Mr. Selma also urged WASH CSOs to be more creative and innovative in further demonstrating the skills and knowledge acquired during the training.

He called on them to do campaigning and collect data with evidence that could be used for advocacy, especially the aspect of accountability, holding officials and duty bearers to account, leading to transparency and accountability in the WASH sector.  

Also speaking, ICampus Liberia Director, Luther Jeke expressed hope that the training will help improve the work of WASH CSOs in Advocacy.

He commanded WaterAid for the support and said the one-month training was important to enhance the work of CSOs to bring about more accountability and transparency in the WASH sector of Liberia.

For his part, the National Chairman of the Liberia WASH CSOs Network, Augustine N. Myers commended fellow participants for their commitment and interest during the Training, and also commanded WaterAid and Icampus for the financial and technical support respectively.

He described the training as successful and said it will enhance their capacity to serve, assuring that the Training will be sued practically in the interest of the WASH sector and the country.
