The Private Public Partnership Unit (PPPU) in the Office of Chief of Staff, State House has signed a grant Memorandum of Understanding with the Department for International Development (DFID) to provide professional support to the unit.

The State House Chief of Staff, Dr. Richard Conteh said the private sector is indispensable to assisting state institutions to take the country’s development agenda forward, reflecting the vision of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

He highlighted the key role of the British agency, describing it as a leading bilateral development partner.

Dr. Richard Conteh said the pact will promote the private sector and ensure that government benefits from every private sector investment in the country, and supporting feasibility studies in all sectors of governance.

DFID’s Head of Mission to Sierra Leone and Liberia, Mr. Phil Evans, described the move as valuable, as government is now rebuilding key economic institutions since the end of the war.

He expressed the fervent belief that the PPPU will be very much pivotal in partnering with the private sector, with clear prospect in the delivery of the ‘Agenda for Prosperity’.

DFID’s, intervention, Mr. Evans noted, is relatively strategic to the extent that it will provide the required expertise in key and divers sectors of governance. – By State House Communications Unit
