Upcoming South Africa-Based Zimdancehall songbird releases first single
By Ronnie Chisamba – South Africa-based budding Zimbabwean Zimdancehall artiste, Evelyn Malovu (35) – aka Queen Eve – yesterday officially released her debut single on YouTube and other social media platforms. titled Tirivaviri, the track is a Shona (one of the common languages in the southern Africa state) love song. Produced in South Africa by Jah Agent – the musician’s fellow countryman – at his Yards Salute Production Records, the single features one of Soldier Love’s musical prodigies, Tinotenda Munyoro (aka T Man).
The launch of the song on social media was the songstress’s effort to contribute in the fight against the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
Born in the gold mining city of Kadoma, Queen Eve embarked on her musical career early this year. She has been under the mentorship of T Man, a talented Zimdancehall musician who had the privileged to be groomed by Soldier Love – one of the celebrated founders of the genre, for the past couple of months.
T Man had this to say about the budding musician’s prowess and musical capabilities: “Queen Eve is a powerful musician. I started mentoring her a few months back but the progress she has made is amazing. She definitely has a bright future in the entertainment industry, ”
Queen Eve says her sources of inspiration are Zimbabwean musician Masimba Jekete – aka Mr. Mawaza – and internationally acclaimed female artiste, Rihanna. “My sources of inspiration are Rihanna and Masimba Jeketa – aka Mr Mawaza, “the songstress pointed out in an interview.
Zimdancehall is a genre which brings together the Zimbabwean musical beats with the solely Jamaican dancehall genre.
