Zambia: Faluja cracks out of the nut world
By Shout-Africa Correspondent – With great hope that better days lie ahead, Faluja Daka has boldly announced his interest to break out of the cocoon and take Zambian music to another level. The 27-year-old Easterner says contesting for recognition in Chipata’s the cut throat industry was far beyond a childhood dream of someday becoming a beacon of note.
He said breaking out of cocoon, which he described as a nut world was better aimed at reintroducing himself but to a larger audience. “As a childhood I had one desire and that was of becoming a musical star. And still this day I am entertaining the idea of contesting in the tightly contested musical industry.
“In my thinking once it works out this would not only present me as an icon to the young and aspiring musicians but as a victor to those of my generation. Let a dream escape due to circumstances is one weakness that will not fall prey to,” He explained.
Better known to his legion of fans as Faluja, the rookie has recorded over 10 hits songs currently playing on community radios across the Eastern province. “Had it not been for the local radio stations we have here in Chipata I would have not been basking in this success I am enjoying. Breaking on the music scene had not been a stroll in the park but rather an uphill challenge,” said the lesser known star.
Juggling music and his taxi business he said lack of serious promoters in Eastern province was a heavy burden every young and aspiring artiste had to shoulder before making a name. He said, “Unlike most cities where music is booming, Eastern province has proven to be a non-fertile ground due to lake of promoters. “To my name I have over 10 songs that made noise but it has been a challenge to make an advance beyond the line.”
On collaboration, he boosts of having had recorded with T-Sean, Chimzy Kelly, Will Casid, Mac Law.
Mavuto (2018) featuring T-Sean and Boarder to Boarder (2018) featuring Casid are his sizzling hits currently making waves on the stereo.
