This publication caught up with Tongai and he said they were moved by the poor state  of the roads in Hopley so they thought of chipping in to help avert the situation.

“Yes we are here fixing the roads which as you can see are now in a bad state ,”said the media shy Mnangagwa.

A Hopley resident who requested anonymity for fear of victimisation said while some politicians have already started angling themselves for the Harare South seat, they have not spared time to spruce up the impoverished community adding that the kind gesture by the trust is a laudable effort.

“Hopley lies in Harare South which you are aware  have already seen  a stampede by politicians to clinch the seat in the coming polls but there is  a glaring lack of  effort to make the constituency a better one so I  thank the trust for such  a sterling effort,” said the resident.

Taurai Mauzive said the road rehabilitation would ease the commuting woes the suburb was currently experiencing especially when rains fall.

“The fixing of the roads is going to ease our challenges as  most transport operators plying the Hopley routes would shun  the routes when rains fell because of the bad state of the roads, “applauded Mauzive.

Recently, the trust  sponsored a sporting extravaganza in the Herbert Ushewekunze area where more than 10 schools participated in soccer, netball and volleyball.

The schools which were paired in two groups A and B include Planet, Rujeko, Data Base, Constellation, Royal Star, New Royal Star, Prince of Peace, Bright Light, Canterbury, Moving Fast, Kudzanayi and Focus.

Venancio Zibghi who is the chairman of sport for New Cerney Park said they were grateful to get   the sponsorship   from the trust as students were  able to showcase their talent.

“Most of the schools here are not registered hence students cannot participate under the ministry sanctioned games so by having such a tournament the students were delighted,” said Zibghi.

Group A which comprised of Canterbury, Data base ,Sunrise, Royal stars, Planet, Kudzanai won in all competitions beating Group B which had     Focus, Rujeko, Moonlight, Constilation, Prince of Peace, Bright future and New Royal stars.

The group received floating trophies, soccer and netball jersey and individual prizes for amazing athletes.
