Zimbabwe: ZANU PF Harare East Members Cry Foul
..as they claim being hoodwinked to dump the ruling party – By Own Correspondent – In a move which is likely to validate that there are emerging divisions in the ruling party, Zanu PF Harare East members are accusing one member of persuading them to join the main opposition MDC.
The accused Francis Zimunya who joined Zanu PF a few years ago after dumping the Simba Makoni-led Mavambo Kusile Dawn (MKD) party has court the ire of some ruling supporters for ‘hoodwinking’ them to join the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC opposition.
“He (Zimunya) formed the Greendale Residents Association which has proved to be a front to push MDC Alliance agendas while mocking President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
“He is manipulating the ongoing ZANU PF restructuring exercise and took advantage of ZANU PF cell membership and joined them to his questionable organization before inviting them to a meeting that was chaired by MDC A Vice President Tendai Biti,” revealed one mole from the ruling party
The ruling party members felt they were cheated when their names found their way to MDC books and they have since been called several times and asked them to join the protests against government.
One party member fumed that Zimunya is courting Harare East Member of Parliament in his shenanigans to draw party members to the main opposition.
“What Zimunya is doing is providing a platform for Biti to engage all recent Zanu PF members.
“He is contesting the ZANU PF Greendale 3 District elections chairmanship but wants to keep a close with Biti so he can get an MDC post in case of defeat,” said an annoyed Greendale Zanu PF member who declined to be named.
It is also alleged that there are recorded audios in which Zimunya is being heard heaping praises on Biti and denouncing his own party.
The party members have already petitioned the ZANU PF leadership claiming the Greendale Residents Association of being an opposition appendage
