Zimbabwe: Let’s Fight Covid
By Alyssa J. Chisamba – The Corona virus continues to claim lives and wreak havoc across the globe. Our lives as children have been negatively affected in many ways by the presence of this menace. Education and our social lives have been disturbed causing a dent on the normal development processes of every child all over the world. It is for these reasons that children, as future leaders, should join in the fight against the deadly disease.
I personally think we can make use of the media in our first against Covid-19. Information on arresting the spread of the disease is given in the media and other sources of information. We should therefore make use of the relevant information to arm ourselves for the worthy struggle.
Countries all over the world have rapid response teams. lt is the duty of every school going child to know the contact numbers for these teams. This enables us (children) to call the rapid response teams in our localities when the need arises.
In Zimbabwe the number emergency number for suspected Covid cases is 2019. A call to this number can either save a life or stop the spread of the deadly pandemic.
The fight for us children includes adhering to the WHO stipulated measures of curbing the disease such as staying at home, sanitizing and hand washing with clean water and soap and maintaining social distance in crowded places. It is not easy for us children to stay at home at all the time but deviant behaviour in this regard endangers the lives of the children in question and that of those around them.
I know parties are a bit tempting but l no to the temptation means a yes to the fight against Covid-19.So please let’s fight Covid!Let’s stay at home!
