Liberia: ‘DA MY AREA’ – Political song or Social Song, stomping Liberia

‘Da My Area’ the song ,is the current street anthem of Liberia ,every corner of the country has the tune on and political parties are using it to support their message as well as use it to expose opponent deed .
The entire street of Liberia was this after engulf with the song as the biggest opposition party of Liberia standbearer and running mate entered the country this afternoon to begin their election campaign for the 11 October 2011 election.
Their music has taken the country by storm. Coming at the helm of the country’s crucial political season, the music has established itself as a slogan of the election music where politicians, pleasure, and merry-makers and even religious Liberians are identifying themselves with the music that is poised to continually gain much air play in the country.

In spite of its popularity and amazing admiration among Liberians of all walks of life, singers of popular ‘Da My Area’, according to new monitored in Monrovia are in dire need of financial support.
Tumor junior known as Junior Freeman and Eddie S. Dougbe alias ‘African Soldier’. They are musician and this collaborative effort, has become an instant hit and on the path of not just popularity but success out of their ‘Diepie’ album hitting the airwaves.
They are crying foul as their music is playing everywhere but not getting anything “Right now, we really, really need support. With all the music you hear-anywhere you go this time you hear our music ‘Da My Area’ oh-we are not really getting money”, ‘African Soldier’ said .
Sang in what is categorized as the ‘gbe-ma’ style-a localized form of rural music with the samkpa drum being the dominant instrumental-‘Da My Area’ has become more of a national anthem played at major social and even political functions nationwide.
Not wanting to descend the musical hierarchy following the hit their music continues to make as in the case of most local musical artists, ‘African Soldier’ and his stage-mate Tumar Junior fear that the lack of support will make them shining stars with no future.
They were spotted at the recent outdooring of the office and campaign of the ruling political party yet still they are not making money from their song.
Madison Pailey, manages the musical pair and Reddilon Diepee, made their music both are not happy about the return on the music on the market presently but hope things will get better .
