Nigeria beefs up security as she prepares for 2011 Presidential inauguration

By Correspondent Chinyere Ogbonna – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has deployed twenty thousand (20,000 ) personnel and three hundred (300) sniffer dogs as part of security measures towards ensuring a hitch free inauguration ceremonies for new government officials and May Day Celebrations in the Country.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin who made this public, said the Corps is also collaborating with other security agencies to ensure maximum security during the period.

Dr. Aboderin said security agencies in the Country will take no chances at the forth-coming inauguration and will ensure that no crisis or unfavorable incidences occur anywhere in the Country.

The training extends to all aspects of their activities and operations including anti-terrorism, vandalism, maintenance of law and order and crime detection.

He said twenty thousand (20,000) of its men and three hundred (300) trained sniffer dogs will be employed alongside the activities of other security outfits to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

Dr. Ade Abolurin said the deployment which will also include the new equipment specifically acquired for the events, will be extended to all other States for the duration of the inauguration.

The Civil Defense Boss assures Nigerians of maximum security of their lives and properties not only in this inauguration season but in the days ahead.
