President Jammeh Appoints Gambia UN Rep as Foreign Minister
By Shout-Africa.com Gambia Correspondent – The president of the Gambia Yahya Jammeh has appointed Susan Waffa-Ogoo, the Gambia’s permanent representative to the United Nations as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs with immediate effect, a media release from State House revealed.
Meanwhile, the president of the republic acting under the provisions of Sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia has redeployed Dr Momodou Tangara, minister of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology as minister.
It should be noted that Susan Wafa-Ogoo was in April 2008 appointed as Gambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, few weeks after she was named as Gambia’s High Commissioner to India.
Among the ministries yet to be filled are those of Information and Communication Infrastructure, and of Regional Administration, Lands and Traditional Rulers.
