Zimbabwe: Youths urged to stand against violence
By Alfred Tembo – MIDLANDS – Following violence outbreaks across Zimbabwe, youths has been urged to take charge of the situation and stand against violence citing there in need for creating a new society of peace makers.
Speaking during a public lecture at Gweru Memorial Library Wednesday Father Sifelani of Anglican- Chipadze Parish said it is important to maintain our dignity by evaluating what we are worth in our communities.
“The change for better can only begin with us, since we have got a bright future ahead of us” he said.
Father Sifelani deliver a presentation under the, “Youth and the celebration of violence in Zimbabwe” which tackled several topical issues and challenge youths are facing. And also aids to resolution to the problems.
On what could be the main influence to the causes of violence, social economical and high unemployment rates were ruled out as the major contributing factors that cause political leaders to capitalize on youth’s desperate need for cash and beer.
While on the other hand city councils were also to blame for selling off all recreational parks and infill spaces for leaving youths without sources of recreational facilities.
Hence youth were urged to shun such people by desisting from violence and work towards improve themselves through academics and technical institutes built by respective authorities.
