French Football Team On ‘Strike’
Shout-Africa Sports – SOUTH AFRICA -The French team’s reportedly on strike after star, Nicola Anelka was expelled over the weekend.
He had a heated argument with coach Raymond Domeneck.
It’s believed the spat was at half-time during the match with Mexico at Polokwane last week.
The French went down 2-0 on Thursday.
It’s been reported Domeneck had critisised Anelka’s performance. The striker then apparently swore at the coach.
The players are now striking in an effort to get Anelka back onto the field after the French Football Federation decided to send him home this weekend.
French Team Director -Jean-Louis Valantin has resigned apparently because he’s disgusted by the strike action.
It’s alleged that the players blame Domenech for France’s dismal performance in this World Cup.
The team has not scored a single goal in all its past three games and only has one point.
It has also said that many of them do not believe that they will make it through to the second round – even if they are expected to win against Bafana Bafana tomorrow.
There had been fears that the strike had would put the game in jeopardy but Bafana’s management says it received word yesterday that the game will go on.
However players are demanding that Anelka return and that Domenech and his technical staff be dismissed.
