Ghana: Bereakum Chelsea whips Liscr Fc 3:0
By Peterking Quaye – Chelsea Ghana’s sole survivors in the Pan African club competition hosted Liberia’s LISCR in the return leg of their first round encounter leading 2-0 from the first leg. Ghana does not have any team representing the country in Africa this season except for the Brong Ahafo side, and they had hoped the GFA would have considered that as they play the continental game on Sunday in Berekum.
The much anticipated match which many Liberian hoped that LISCR FC was going to pull a surprise rather turned out to a whipping game against the Liberian team, receiving one of their biggest defeat outside Liberia of 3 goals in their net after full time in a regular game in Berekum, Brong Ahafo Region in Ghana.
The first goal was scored in the 1st half from J. Opoku in the 44th minute and the fully packed Golden City Park in the Brong Ahafo region came alive in the second half with goals coming from the legs of Emmanuel Clottey in the 63rd and 66th minutes of the game. This brings Bereakum Chelsea aggregate score to 5-0 against the Liberian team.
Berekum Chelsea will be forced to play their Ghana Premier League game today, rather than on Thursday as they would have wished. This follows the overturning of their request to reschedule their week 18 home game against WA All Stars on the FA’s “special dispensation rule”. Meanwhile Berekum Chelsea coach Hans van der Plyum is confident they can go all the way in the CAF Champions League. The Dutchman admits his side has the edge after their first leg advantage but wants the players to be out on a real show in front of their home fans in Berekum.
The Ghanaian team is expected to get ready for their next encounter with Raja Casablanca. Chelsea’s form since that win in Monrovia has been far from great with two losses in three games, a trend Van der Plyum attributes to tiredness.
