Liberia: Lone Star defeats FC Fassell
By Peterking Quaye with contribution from New Dawn – Fassell FC has it that last season’s 2nd division champion Fassell FC and the national team of Liberia the Lone Star played yesterday. At the end of the hostility it was a 4: 1 defeat handed over to the young lads of FC Fassell team.
The heated friendly match came off at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia. The newly promoted first Division side lined-up its recording signing players for the evening showpiece.
Former Egyptian 2nd division outfit Ghazl Mahalla Liberian midfielder Nuzohn Kulala; relegation premiership delegation Tony FC’s former central back Bill Graford and Eddie Wulu bought from premiership champion LISCR FC are among top names in Fassell FC line-up.
The club football director Clarence Lee Chea, former head coach of Invisible Eleven said the club is preparing to secure qualification into the top league at the end of the pending Liberian football season. Fassell FC is emerging as one of the young clubs that is pushing for a better soccer environment for Liberian players.
According to Club President Cessell Kohn who spoke to the team from his based in Asia in consoling the player of the defeat and admonished them to keep their head up and not relent in the next matches.
The Lone Star was well composed and it was the team’s first mainstream professional match playing before big crowd as well as the national team. With that one goal, it is a sign f a bright future for the FC Fassell team.
Ahead of the President of arrival in Monrovia, the team is expected to return to training and implement the lessons learnt from the game .
