Tanzania: TP Mazembe edges Simba out of CAF tournament
By Own Correspondent, Dar es Salaam – Tanzanian champions Simba SC have been eliminated in the CAF championship after succumbing to a 3-2 defeat to Africa’s soccer giants TP Mazembe. In the do-or-die game at the Dar es Salaam’s wet National Ground, Mazembe were the first to score in the 18th minute through Zambian striker, Given Singuluma.
The much awaited game played at the 60,000 seater modern National Stadium Soccer Complex, as expected Simba’s defense side could not hold back Mazembe’s hard working strikers lead by Singuluma, Mulota Kabangu and Dioko Kaluyutuka who scored the second and the third respectively.
In the second half, Simba showed some vigor but allowed two more goals due to poor marking. A budding Tanzanian star of the match, Mbwana Samata and Shija Mkina scored Simba tear shading goals in the second half.
