MTN Heathens were declared champions over the weekend, after completing a double against archrivals UTL Kobs at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Saturday. The fiercely contested game ended 23-6 in favour of the MTN sponsored side.
Kobs were only successful at one front where they denied the champions-elect bonus points, the first time this season, Heathens have failed to secure both the win and bonuses.
With both sides fielding all their top guns, Jude Kerimundu put through two penalty kicks and a conversion which added onto tries from Mathias Ochwo, Evans Kingasia and Arthur Mukama gave to give Heathens a comfortable lead.
With tight play and two penalty kicks from Joel Anguyo, Kobs is the only team that has denied Heathens a league bonus point. Heathens captain Alex Mubiru revealed that it was a very tight derby as Kobs had improved a lot after the first round 28-0 win.
Heathens will play Pirates on the closing day of the league this Saturday.
