Uganda: Okwi Is Key – U-12 Team targets All Africa Games Slot With A Tanzanian Big Kill
By Katongole Kiwanuka – Tanzanian based U-23 striker, Emma Okwi will be the greatest inspiration for Uganda today as the two teams face-off at Namboole stadium in an All Africa Games qualifier.
Coach Bobby Williamson earlier on Friday said that Emma Okwi’s presence in the team will give them advantage since he is well-informed about the Tanzanian style of play.
He added that this will be a chance for the youngsters to shine over their southern neighbours.
The coming on board of Bobby Williamson and arrival of Emma Okwi from Tanzania on Thursday boosted the U-23 side, whose opponents Tanzania vow to defy.
Last Sunday, the Tanzanian side eliminated Cameroon from the Olympic Games qualifiers on 7-6 goal aggregate.
The Tanzanians arrived in the country on Thursday and have been booked in Sojovalo Hotel for the game, whose entrance will be sh10,000 and sh5,000 according to the federation Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson.
The winner between Uganda and Tanzania will face the survivor between Eritrea and Kenya in a second round tie in June.
Winners of the seven Africa zones will join hosts Mozambique to form the eight countries in the finals of the All Africa Games due September 3-18 in Maputo.
